Episode 1: The First Night in a New World

“Mom will you please stop staring at her, she’s not gonna bite you or anything, jeez.” Tyson groaned.
“You told me that you were bringing a friend of yours here to be safe from the panic that the city is no doubt in right now! You didn’t say it was going to be an animal!” his mom said back.
“MOM, Cynder is not an animal she’s a dragoness! I hate it when you judge people, especially my friends; wrongly just because of the way they look.” Tyson said.
“There’s no need to worry, I’m not going to cause any of you harm. I just want to find out what happened to my world and my friends.” Cynder said sadly.
“Hey don’t worry I’m sure your friends are alright. Maybe they might have ended up here on Earth just like you.” Tyson reassured her. Just then a figure comes out of nowhere and tackles Cynder!
“Heyheyhey, Tyson got a pet, why did he get a pet, I wanna pet too, I want this one, this one’s mine, mineminemine!!!!!!!” the kid who tackled Cynder started to try and wrap himself around her neck.
“Whoa don’t hurt him Cynder he’s just my annoying little brother Carter. MOM, CARTER GOT INTO THE SUGAR AGAIN!!!!! Gah, get off of her ya little twerp.” Tyson grabs Carter by the collar of his shirt and pries him off Cynder.
“First of all Cynder is not a pet she’s a friend and second, how many times has mom told you to go to sleep and stay out of the sugar you hyperactive little addict!” Tyson snapped.
“The big flash woke me up and I wanted some sugar anyway and how come you get one like her and not me that’s not fair not fair not fair!” Carter ranted on in his sugar induced episode for the next hour and a half before he finally crashed.
“Is he finally asleep?” Cynder asked.
“Yeah, hey sorry about Carter body slamming you like that. He’s not really allowed to have too much sugar or that happens. You’re not hurt are you?” Tyson asked.
“No, I’m fine. It’ll take more than your little brother acting like that to hurt me.” Cynder answered acting a little smug. A few minutes later Tyson and Cynder are walking down a large hallway to drop Carter off in his bedroom.
“Why is this place so big for people who are so small?” Cynder asked. Tyson then just heaves Carter onto his bed and leaves him there.
“Well it’s because this is a billionaire family. So we have a lot of money to pay for stuff like this. And sure other kids of rich families let it all go to their heads and become snobby and arrogant but not me. The only thing I want in this life can’t be bought with all the money in the world.” Tyson said. Just then Tyson’s mom screams for them to hurry to the living room.
“Mom what is it?” Tyson asked.
“Look, this news report just came in from the main city.” His mom turned the TV onto the news channel but Cynder was confused.
“Tyson, what is this box for and what is ‘TV’?” Cynder asked.
“You have got to be kidding me? Look I’ll tell you later but right now let’s find out what’s happening.” Tyson said.
This report has just come in; strange creatures have just appeared out of nowhere in Avalar City’s Forest Edge Park and have begun attacking innocent bystanders unprovoked and…wait what is that huge monster…no no wait run arrgh……*skzzzzzttttttttt*
“Wait those creatures…they were Grublins and that huge monster was the Golem but it was already destroyed…how?” Cynder started to run off when Tyson got in her way.
“Hold it, where do you think you’re going?” Tyson asked.
“I have to go fight those things. It’s me they’re probably after and…” but Tyson stopped her before she could finish.
“I wasn’t finished; I was trying to say where do you think you’re going ‘without me’! I’m going with you Cynder…I don’t know why but I feel as if this is my fight too.” Tyson said. And before his mom could say anything, “I’m not staying behind, besides you’re the only one other than dad who knows how to operate the house’s security defense system in case those things get past us.”
“Just be careful out there. You’re just so much like your father Tyson…I’ll take care of Carter and the house until those things are gone.” she said.
As Tyson and Cynder are running she takes off into the air, “How are you going to keep up with me without wings?”
“Who needs wings when you can ride the wind instead!” Tyson just shoots up past her riding a flying board. “This is my ‘Sky Gear: Zephyr’, it lets me fly like you without wings only much faster. I know a shortcut to Forest Edge Park, follow me and try and keep up! Whoohoo!”
Tyson dives as Cynder follows him into an underground tunnel, being a dragoness Cynder’s eyesight is very different from humans so even in pitch black she can see any obstacles in her way but then she looked at Tyson and was amazed. He was practically matching her move for move it’s because he’s wearing a specially designed set of goggles that he built himself that almost perfectly mimics Cynder’s dragonsight not completely but just enough to let him see where he’s going anyway. They come out of the tunnel and right into a pack of Grublins! One of which takes a swing and hits Tyson’s gear, knocking him out of the air, but they didn’t expect Cynder to use her Shadow ability to fly right through the rock wall and blow them all away with the shockwave.
“Hey, you guys totally wreaked my gear! NOW, it’s my fight!” Tyson held out both his hands when they jumped at him and out of thin air two guns materialized and then five quick bangs went off and the Grublins dropped and disintegrated.
“It’s gunslinger time! Ready for some monster hunting, Cynder?” Tyson asked.
“I don’t understand why you talk like that Spyro but I get what you mean.” Cynder answered.
“Hey wait a tic, what did you just call me?” Tyson asked.
“By your name, Tyson.” she answered.
“No you didn’t, you just called me ‘Spyro’ for some reason!” he exclaimed.
“I what?!....Oh, um sorry you just remind me so much of someone I knew before this happened. It was just a slip of the tongue, my mistake, but let’s hurry and go help those people before it’s too late.” Cynder runs off but Tyson just stands there for a minute.
Spyro…why do I feel like I’ve heard that name before, why does it sound so…familiar? Spyro……?” he thought.
A straight hour of fighting these things and both Tyson and Cynder are starting to feel the drain. Tyson’s military grade custom built plasma-core pulse bullet pistols are almost out of energy cartridges and Cynder has almost completely exhausted her powers when they’re just about to reach the central park area where the Golem was seen.
“Cynder, we need to make every attack hit and count, these are my last cartridge clips for both ‘Pulse’ and ‘Burst’ and they don’t have much left in them.” Tyson said.
“I feel the same way but also something more…but that’s not important right now.” Cynder said as she started walking to the park area when her right fore leg buckled but she caught herself. Tyson wanted to take a look but she insisted that she was fine.
They both started toward the central area while Cynder thought, “If I don’t survive this battle, we can finally be together forever…Spyro…
There were Grublins allover the place, but the Golem just attacked anything near the police squads protecting the people who were in the park at the start of this whole mess. Tyson and Cynder charge in, making their way toward the Golem. Now this was the same golem that Spyro and Cynder defeated in their world but something was different. It slammed a fist down between Tyson and Cynder, separating them. Just then dozens of Grublins began piling on top of them and began to pull them into a dark portal.
NO CYNDER!! GET OFF ME!!! CYNDER HOLD ON, RRAAGGHH, LET GO!!!! CYNDER, CYNDER!!!!!!!!” Tyson screamed as darkness swallowed them.
Tyson, Spyro! AAAAHHHHHHH!!!” Cynder could be heard screaming.
NO; NNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!! CYNDER!!!!!!!!!!!” Tyson howled. A purple streak of light shot toward the planet from space as Tyson stretched his arm out as far as he could to grab Cynder but the darkness swallowed her, “NNOOOOO, CYNDER!!!!
The purple light struck where Tyson was and the incredible power erupted bathing everything in a powerful light. Cynder, now free from the darkness saw Tyson and a silhouette of…Spyro behind him. On the outside, the light blew away the darkness and standing there was Tyson holding Cynder in his arms.
“You…will…not…hurt her!” Tyson said. In his other hand he held a huge sword with a purple hilt and handguard, folded yellow wings, the head of a dragon that looked like Spyro’s where the blade meets the hilt, the blade as big as Tyson is tall with the tip like Spyro’s tail tip.
“Cynder…stay here.” Tyson set her down just as Grublins jumped from behind but with a single swing, destroyed all four of them. He ran forward and cut a path through the horde of Grublins, doing things no human is even capable of doing! Spinning the sword across his back and cleaving enemies as if they were paper. He slammed the blade onto the ground and cut a massive gash into the earth destroying any enemy in the way.
The golem attacked but with a single swing Tyson stopped it cold and smashed the golems hand to rubble. He then threw the sword and as if he had control of where it flies, sent it through its legs and remaining arm when an even larger golem appeared.
“Oh no, it’s the Destroyer! The one that Malefor awakened!” but Tyson vanished. He had jumped up above the first golem, caught the sword and rammed it into its head, lifted…the entire golem off the ground and threw it into the Destroyer. Tyson landed and then began to glow just like Spyro; the blade began to pulsate with incredible power! Tyson from within the light seemed to transform into Spyro when he aimed the sword at both golems, then a purple flame of power exploded from the blade right at them, piercing both of them and lifting them high into the air before both golems were completely destroyed as all the Grublins.
The light faded and Tyson dropped to his knees, “Huh, what just happened? Huh! Cynder!” Tyson stumbled to his feet and ran to her, Cynder was writhing in pain. He spotted someone with a Sky Gear and grabbed it right out of his hands.
“Hey, give that back!”
“I need this right now, she needs my help!” Tyson picked her up and sped off as fast as he could, maybe even faster than he’s even moved, back to his house. Instead of going through the door he crashed through the living room window and tumbled onto the floor.
“Tyson, what’s w…” Before she could even finish speaking, “Mom, it’s Cynder she’s hurt please help her!”
“What’s going on?” Carter asked.
“Carter, go get my med kit from the closet right there, hurry!” she said. Cynder was screaming as Tyson and his mom tried to help her.
“Oh No, her pulse is dropping rapidly!” she said.
“No, Cynder don’t go! You can’t die, not yet! I promised I’d get you home, you can’t die yet!” Tyson cried.
As Cynder’s eyes began to close she could see Spyro, “Spyro, I’m coming.”
No, not yet.
“But I love you and I want to be with you!” Cynder said.
But I am with you, I will always be with you. But it’s not your time yet, please don’t die yet Cynder. Go back, your life does not end here, I’ll be waiting…I love you, Cynder…
CYNDER! YOU CAN’T DIE, NOT NOW! I DON’T WANT YOU TO DIE, I’VE LOST TOO MANY FRIENDS ALREADY AND I’M NOT GOING TO LOSE YOU!!!!!” Tyson began to glow again but the light flowed from his heart, through his arms and into Cynder. Her pulse began to climb back to normal and she stopped screaming. Tyson utterly collapsed right next to her when she opened her eyes.
you saved me…thank you, Tyson.” Cynder whispered.
you’re welcome…that’s what friends do. Mom will you take care of her?” Tyson asked.
“Of course. Rest easy, Cynder.” She picked up Cynder and carried her off.
“Hey…bro?” Carter said.
“Yeah…what?” Tyson answered.
“What you just did…for Cynder I mean…that was…pretty hardcore. Saving her like that…” Carter said.
“Really…hey, bro? Could you help me get to my room?” Tyson asked.
An hour later their mom comes to Tyson’s room with Cynder sleeping in her arms, “What are you doing with her, Mom?”
“Well, she asked…if she could stay near Tyson.” She went and set Cynder down on Tyson’s bed when she said, “Thank you, mam.”
“Please, you can just call me Kayla. Now get some sleep.” Kayla said. When they left Cynder pulled herself closer to Tyson and rested her head on his chest. Tyson, though out like a light, simply smiled as if they had done this before already.
As the night went on an unknown change began to occur with Cynder…but what kind…?
It's coming along nicely and I've got a little suprise for Tyson when he wakes up in the morning, muhahaha! He is going to freak out. Let me know what you readers think and check out the gallery for the next episode of The Legend of Cynder; Suprise Changes! Cynder's New Look! See ya later!
